WAUKON, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Farm animals are ready for their close ups at the Steel Cow in Waukon.

Valerie Miller paints realistic works of art of farm animals as part of her business "Steel Cow" in Waukon. (Marlon Hall, KCRG-TV9)

When Valerie Miller creates a piece, she gives each one a name as well as a back story. She even goes the extra mile, meeting each animal in their natural habitat before painting them.

First, Miller photographs the animal, then takes that back to the studio, where she paints each one on easels her husband built.

"Once I get hooked on something I get hooked. Tweaking the business to see how it works for us," said Miller.

In the last quarter alone, Miller shipped her products to 48 states and several countries.
