Cyclist has severe injury after being hit by vehicle

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Waterloo police responded to a report of an accident involving a bicyclist at 6th Street and South Street on April 30.

Police say a driver called around 3:45 am. and said the bicyclist they hit was on the ground moaning.

The driver said he was southbound on 6th Street just passing South Street when he noticed a bicyclist in front of him.

The driver, 59-year-old William Wolfe, said he didn't have time to hit the brakes before he hit the bicyclist.

The 50-year-old bicyclist, Emsud Hrustic, was taken to Covenant Hospital and was later transported to a hospital in Iowa City for his severe pelvic injury.
