CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The 20-year-old from Clarksville has a one in three chance of being the next American Idol.
Poppe has a busy day and began it at TV9 in Cedar Rapids.
"I remember standing there thinking we're all going to be ok," Poppe said when talking about how she felt while waiting to hear if she would make the top three.
Throughout her journey, Poppe's parents have supported her along the way and have made appearances on the show.
"It's been stressful for me it's been a whirlwind. For them, I know me being gone for this long, I'm so busy out there and we don't get to talk very much. I know that they miss me a lot, but I think that they know this is what I've always wanted. I think it's all going to be worth it," Poppe said.
Poppe will return home to family and friends tonight for a mayor's presentation, parade and concert in Butler County on May 15.
Maddie Poppe stopped by TV9 before she heads to Butler County for events today.
