CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- This weekend is HUGE for many reasons across eastern Iowa. The number one reason is its Labor Day weekend. Many people have plans and I’m almost certain the majority of those plans will be outdoors. Tailgating will likely be going on for the first games of the football season and of course just your typical cookouts.
So, whatever you may have planned this holiday weekend you’ll want to know the forecast.
Temperatures will be on the rise with highs in the low to middle 80s. The majority of the weekend will be dry. today is dry with mostly sunny skies. Monday will be the day we’ll have to watch for the small chance of an isolated storm mainly later in the evening hours. Even then the chance is small.
Winds pick up speed moving into Monday as a frontal system passes through eastern Iowa. Expect winds to become strong Monday out of the W at roughly 15 to 25 mph. Wind gusts could become stronger at times.
