Kicking up the heat and keeping the sunshine

By  |

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- There will be just a few more clouds than yesterday with partly sunny skies, but that won’t inhibit high temperatures from rising. Expect high temperatures to warm into the low 50s this afternoon. In case you were wondering, the typical high temperature for this time of year is roughly around 33 degrees. Winds this afternoon will blow out of the south at 10 to 15 mph.

Skies will stay fairly clear throughout the overnight yet again, only this time temperatures will be warmer. Overnight lows will drop into the low 30s. Some may drop at or just a few degrees below freezing. Winds tonight will blow out of the south at 5 to 10 mph.

Get ready for Friday and for the weekend. It’s about to look and feel like we’ve stepped into March or even April for that matter. High temperatures are climbing into the low to middle 60s. Sunny skies will be prominent all weekend. It won’t be until Monday where the weather becomes a bit more active. The chance for a few storms is possible as temperatures warm into the upper 60s.
