GRANT COUNTY, Wis. (KCRG-TV9) -- The Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash on County D near Lone Road at 10 a.m. on January 11.
Adam Van Natta, 30, of Platteville, was driving his jeep on a snowmobile trail west of County D.
Elizabeth Laufenberg, 29, of Cuba City, was in the vehicle.
Van Natta was driving east on the trail when the accelerator got stuck to the floor mat, causing the Jeep to surge forward.
Van Natta's car went off the trail and hit a culvert, the ditch, snowmobile signs, and a right of way sign.
The right of way sign impaled the passenger compartment of the Jeep.
The sign went through a floorboard and into the front of the passenger side seat where Laufenberg was sitting.
Laufenberg wasn't in the accident, as it missed her legs.
Van Natta was cited for Trespass for driving his Jeep on the trail.
