Iowa veterans fly to D.C. in honor flight

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- On Wednesday morning 85 Iowa veterans are on their way to Washington D.C. for the second honor flight of the year.

They boarded a plane and departed at 6:30 a.m. out of the Eastern Iowa Airport.

There, they will visit national war memorials dedicated to their service.

This is many of the veterans first time seeing the memorials. Some haven't left the state since their service.

The 85 veterans participating will return to the eastern Iowa airport just after 10 tonight.
