Those officers were killed during a peaceful protest over Castile's death and another man police shot in Louisiana.

Matt Cleverley of Mitchellville made the flag out of reclaimed lumber.
The flag features a thin blue line, inscribed with each of the officers names and is sending it to the Dallas Police Department.

The thin blue line is a symbol used by law enforcement. It commemorates fallen officers and symbolizes the relationship of the police in the community as protectors.

Cleverley said it's one way his department can help a force hundreds of miles away. This isn't the first flag Cleverly has made for fallen officers.

When he found out two Des Moines Police officers were killed on March 26th in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 80, Cleverley made flags for their families. Then the project turned personal.

Officer Susan Farrell was Cleverley's childhood friend. Her personalized flag sat nearby during her funeral.
