IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A University of Iowa football player has pleaded guilty to drunken driving.

Court documents show 22-year-old Brandon Snyder entered the plea Friday. As part of a plea agreement, Snyder will avoid a two-day jail sentence by participating in the Kirkwood Community College OWI Weekend Program. Snyder is also subject to a $1,250 fine.

Police arrested Snyder around 3 a.m. on December 10 near Kinnick Stadium. Police said Snyder admitted to drinking and was wearing bar wristbands. Officers said a breath test showed his blood alcohol content was .163 percent, more than twice the legal limit to operate a vehicle in Iowa.

Snyder is a junior free safety with the Hawkeyes.
