IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - A fundraiser sponsored by the University of Iowa Public Policy Center Saturday night supported 1,500 UI student veterans and their families.
The funds will help student veterans get new computers to help improve their experience at the university.
People at the fundraiser ate dinner and listened to the band, HomeBrewed.
The goal was to raise $20,000.
It's not the first event, but this time more veterans groups came together to focus on helping students.
"The money is going toward 18 brand new computers for work stations for veterans, we've been cleaning out the room taking care of it so it's now another structure for us to have at the university," UIVA president Kris Latorre said.
Online donations can also be made through the University of Iowa foundation.
