Dubuque restaurant founder, Mario Bertolini dies

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG TV-9) The man who founded the popular, Mario's Italian Restaurant died Wednesday, according to restaurant employees.
Mario Bertolini, 73, was a well-known for greeting each customer who entered his restaurant.
Bertolini, who was born and raised in Italy, first opened the restaurant on Main Street in Dubuque in 1977.
Over the years, Mario's was a popular stop for celebrities and politicians visiting Dubuque.
On Thursday, customers placed flowers and notes outside the restaurant.
Funeral services are pending.
