CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The latest Drought Monitor was released on Thursday morning and the dry conditions expanded compared to last week. The change was small, with the dry conditions (marked in yellow) moving into Linn County. Moderate to extreme drought areas in central and southern Iowa remained the same as last week.

Dry weather will continue for the next week and a half, based on current expectations. Having absolutely no rain in the first half of September is quite unusual and has happened only a few times on record in eastern Iowa. Here are the times in which not even a trace of rain was measured from September 1 through September 15.
