DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) Pools are usually busy in the summer with little kids. However, Sutton Pool in Dubuque was full of dogs on Saturdays.
Dog owners bring their dogs to Sutton Pool in Dubuque on Saturday, August 12.
The public pool held it's Doggie Dip event.
The pool is closing for the season, so they let dogs and their owners in to play before they drain the water.
Dogs jumped into the water, ran along the side, and caught toys.
Some were excited, while some were timid.
Dog owner Kate Larson says the event is something she looks forward to every year.
She says it's a truly family friendly event.
"Some families have children and dogs, and some families don't have children and they just have dogs, so even if you're just a couple with a dog this is kind of a fun thing do with your fur child," Larson said.
This year the pool split up the time between small, medium and large sized dogs.
Small dogs were allowed in 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Medium sized dogs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. And large dogs 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Pool staff said they did this to ensure that all dogs were safe.
Flora Pool has its doggie dip in two weeks.
