Grassley: Compromise possible after phasing out of DACA

WASHINGTON (KCRG-TV9) -- A Congressional compromise could be coming for immigration reform. hat's the message from Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley following the announcement that President Trump is phasing out DACA.

Grassley says he doesn't blame the president for taking action on what he says is the responsibility of Congress.

"I think he did what needs to be done under the constitution. This is really a congressional issue. Now you can say this is a congressional issue, congress should have worked on years ago. And it did pass the Senate but never got through the house," said Grassley.

DACA was an executive order that President Obama used to protect nearly 800 thousand so-called "dreamers" who came into the country illegally as children. President Trump's decision puts the future of the program in the hands of Congress.
