UPDATE: Woman suffering life threatening injuries in CR shooting remains in hospital

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - UPDATE: A woman who suffered life threatening injuries in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in Cedar Rapids remains in the hospital.

The 26-year-old victim who was shot Wednesday is still in the hospital according to authorities. Officials believe she suffered her injuries while inside the red car that was reported on the 1300 block of L Avenue NE. Investigators say the red car is being used as evidence, and this was the vehicle that transported the victim to the hospital.

During the investigation, police have arrested two on charges that are unrelated to the incident:

Gage Michael Rupp, DOB/04-27-1994, age 22, was arrested on warrants for criminal trespass and theft-3rd degree.

Cedric Antonio Wright, Jr., DOB/11-19-1996, age 20, was arrested for providing false information and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cannabidiol

A woman suffered life threatening injuries in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in Cedar Rapids.

Officers responded to the area of Center Point Road and L Avenue Northeast around 4:30 p.m. K9 units investigated the surrounding area.

Cedar Rapids police say someone took the victim to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment. They say a woman in her 20's suffered serious injuries and is in serious condition.

Officers continue to question several people at this time. They do say the two scenes are connected. Stay with TV-9 for more developments in the case.
