Cedar Rapids approves money for flood repairs to city hall

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The Cedar Rapids city council on Tuesday approved about $175,000 dollars in flood repairs to the basement of city hall.

Pressure from the rising river back in September forced water back through the drains.

Most of the cost will involve replacing flooring and repairing drywall.

City staffers say they will use a magnesium-based wallboard product that is basically waterproof as a replacement so any future problems involve just cleanup.
