DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Republican state lawmakers are moving forward with a bill to block funding for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

It's part of the Health and Human Services budget bill that passed in the Iowa House on Wednesday.

Under the bill, Iowa would spend more than three million dollars to create a family- planning program. That's because the state would have to give up about three million in federal money that goes to family planning providers in the state.

The Iowa Senate is considering a similar bill.
