CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The majority of Iowa will not get to see the total solar eclipse. In fact the only spot in Iowa that gets to see the total eclipse is a very small little triangle-shaped slice of the state, just to the west of Hamburg in far southwest Iowa.
Even though totality does not happen in most areas you should still take advantage of the partial solar eclipse. Viewing times will vary slightly across eastern Iowa. Below is a list of times for many eastern Iowa communities. Pick the city that is closest to you for the best time in your area.
Below is a video of solar eclipse information across the state.
Happy stargazing and eclipse watching!
