Exhibit featuring artwork by cancer patients and caregivers comes to Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) Getting through cancer treatment can be an emotional journey.

The Iowa Breast Cancer Action Foundation, a Cedar Rapids non-profit, is putting artwork and stories of cancer patients on display during a special 3 day event.

The exhibit is called Oncology on Canvas and it'll be the at the National Czech and Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids.

Lilly Oncology, a pharmaceutical company provided the artwork.

The exhibit features over 100 pieces of artwork

Many of the artwork is painted by cancer patients or family members of cancer patients and they tell the stories of their battle with cancer.

Karen Rushton is from Iowa City and she's a cancer survivor and one of the artist featured in the exhibit.

Many survivors like Rushton say Art helped them express themselves and provided another outlet during their cancer treatment.

You can not only view the artwork, but read stories from cancer patients and their caregivers.

It's free and open to the public at the Czech and Slovak Museum

The exhibit is running from April 20th to April 23rd.
