Elliot Burgos was taken to a prom at Mason City High School.
The idea came from Elliot's older brother and his girlfriend, who wanted to do something special for Elliot.
Elliot was crowned the king of the prom and got to dance to his favorite tune "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz.
For Elliot, going to the prom was also a gesture to his older brother, Cameron.
"Cameron didn't want to go so I helped him," Elliot said.
"It just brings a smile to his face and everybody is here to support him," said the boys' father, Jonathan Burgos.
Elliot's cancer is spreading around his brain and spine, but chemotherapy is not working. He was recently accepted into a clinical trial where doctors will use the measles virus to try to kill cancer cells.
