KCRG-TV9 Chief Meteorologist Joe Winters joined the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team in August 1990. Joe anchors weathercasts weekdays on TV9 News at 5, 6 and 10pm.

Joe was born and grew up in Princeton, Wisconsin. Joe received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin. In June of 1989, Joe was awarded with the Seal of Approval for both Television and Radio Broadcasting from the American Meteorological Society. He is also a member of the National Weather Association.

Before coming to KCRG-TV9, Joe was a meteorologist at WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin . He also provided several radio stations across the nation with weather forecasts as a staff meteorologist at Weather Central in Madison His background also included forecasting for power companies golf courses, transportation firms and baseball teams, including the Cleveland Indians and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Joe, his wife Terrie, son Nicholas and daughter Anna live in the Cedar Rapids area. Joe values his time at home with Terrie, Nicholas and Anna and is quite involved in his church and the community. He loves watching football and is a diehard Green Bay Packer backer.

As many people already know, Joe loves the winter! Joe says, "Bring on the snow and cold!"
