Shannon Booth is the executive news and web producer at KCRG-TV9. Shannon joined the KCRG-TV9 team in October 1998 as the weekend evening producer. Since then she’s spent time producing all of the KCRG-TV9 newscasts. She now participates in daily discussions on story development and helps to decide which stories to cover each day and where those news stories will be placed in each newscast. The goal is to create visual, viewer-driven newscasts that you enjoy watching! News producers are always asking these types of questions: “What’s the top story?” “Who has the best video?” “What’s the most interesting way to present the news tonight?” 

In recent years, KCRG-TV9 tapped Shannon to help produce and manage content for KCRG’s website, KCRG.com. She also helps out with producing special projects… like KCRG’s year-long 50^th Anniversary celebration, the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team Severe Weather Guide and special Hawkeye programming.

Shannon produced two KCRG-TV9 newscasts voted #1 by the Iowa Associated Press. And she served as executive producer for another #1 AP show, plus KCRG's Emmy Award winning newscast that featured coverage of the 2006 tornado damage in Iowa City.

Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University. She also served as a T.A. and helped lead a broadcast news class there. Shannon has since studied at The Poynter Institute. Prior to KCRG, Shannon spent time at WOI-TV in Ames, KTIV-TV in Sioux City, WHO-TV in Des Moines and KWWL-TV in Waterloo. And she worked in the video production business.

Shannon enjoys spending time with her family. She loves summer afternoons at the lake and football game days in the fall at Iowa State. Shannon volunteers for Aging Services and at church.
