Bruce Aune

Bruce was in high school when he began his broadcasting career at KLIZ Radio in his hometown, Brainerd, Minnesota. He continued in radio during college and worked as a sports reporter for AFN-Europe in Frankfurt, Germany, during his time in the Army.
    
Bruce's first TV job was at KEYC-TV in Mankato, Minnesota. He spent nearly five years there, first as a news reporter and then as sports director. In the early 80s he became news director and anchor at KIMT-TV in Mason City, IA. From there he went on to anchor and report at WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois, and WILX-TV in Lansing, Michigan. Bruce came to TV9 in 1986, and has anchored the 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 PM newscasts since then.
 
News assignments at TV9 have taken Bruce all over the country and the world including several trips to China, Russia, and Japan. In 1996, he won a regional Emmy for his extensive coverage of Iowa’s relationship with China’s Hebei Province. He has also traveled and reported on several presidential campaigns, and his numerous assignments in Washington D.C include covering four presidential inaugurations.
 
Bruce is a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, and attended graduate school at what was then Mankato State University.

His daughter, Kirsten, and her husband, Mike, have four children making him a proud grandpa.

Bruce also enjoys traveling, golf, and baseball.
