Journalism and reporting will always be one of Sara’s passions. She loves fast paced news, the ever changing routine, meeting new people, and exposing interesting stories that make an impact.
Sara comes to KCRG-TV9 after a year and a half at WXOW-News 19 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was there she was a general assignment reporter and a fill-in anchor. Sara also had the once in a lifetime opportunity of flying with the Blue Angels in a Boeing F/A18 Hornet. She was also there for several big stories including river drownings, a murder trial, and covering the Floods of 2007 that ravaged Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota.
Sara graduated from the University of Iowa where she was a double major in Journalism and Mass Communication and German. While in college, she was one of the founding members of The Daily Iowan TV. She also interned at KGAN during the summer of 2005. The following summer and fall, Sara interned at KWQC-TV6 in Davenport.
Iowa has always been the place Sara has wanted to settle down. She’s happy to be back in the “Hawkeye State” and so close to her friends and family. Sara is also looking forward to the fall football and tailgating season.
Sara’s hometown is Bettendorf, Iowa. As a daughter of a John Deere employee, Sara and her family moved around several times while growing up. Among other places, she lived nearly six years in Germany. She’s traveled all over Europe and in parts of Africa. Sara loves meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and visiting historic sites.
Sara lives in Hiawatha with her husband, Nick who is a carpenter for a custom home builder in Coralville.
