Cassill's Car Found in Benton County

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The car belonging to Cedar Rapids native and race car driver Landon Cassill has been returned to Cassill Motors. The 2008 BMW M6 was stolen early Wednesday morning and was returned late on Saturday.

The $40,000 vehicle turned up at a farm in Benton county with a note on the door saying it was the car that belonged to Cassill Motors. Cassill Motors co-owner Roger Cassill said during the time the car was missing, it wasn’t driven much and it wasn’t damaged. Cassill says the dealership is determined to find out who is behind this.

“He’s still a thief and we still plan on catching him,” Cassill said.

Cassill Motors believes radio ads they released this weekend offering a $6,000 reward helped in getting the car back. So far police have not made any arrests, but they have some leads. Anyone with information should call Cedar Rapids Police at 319-286-5491.
