KCRG-TV9 is proud to continue the tradition of supporting and celebrating charitable organizations and events in Eastern Iowa. All of the support offered through the Show You Care program happens because of the time, dedication, and generosity our Sponsors. Without them, none of this would be possible! Our sincere gratitude goes out to Mercy Medical Center, Dave Wright Subaru, Jenny Craig, and Eells and Tronvold Law Offices for all your work!
During the 2013 holiday season, the American Red Cross asks Cedar Rapids residents to support its mission by giving something meaningful. Community members can offer hope to those in need by donating blood at the seventh annual Cedar Rapids Holiday Blood Drive at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, located at 1200 Collins Road NE. While the need for blood is ongoing, the supply isn't, especially around the holidays. On average, the Red Cross must collect about 15,000 pints of blood every day to meet the needs of hospital patients in Iowa and across the country. All blood types are needed, especially types O negative, A negative and B negative. To make a donation appointment, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.

You name it, it'll be there for you to bid on.
Tickets are $25/person. Hors d'oeurves and cocktails will be served.
All proceeds will support the many needs of the homeless pets of our community.
The event will be held Saturday, December 14th, from 7-10 pm at the Shores Event Center. 700 16th Street NE, Suite L100.
Many of the animals that come to the shelter are in need of specialized veterinary care to make them healthy and adoptable. Funds from this event will support those efforts. Funds will also help provide the animal enrichment features of the new facility that the City budget could not cover, as well as educational opportunities for staff, volunteers and the general public.

Tannenbaum Forest has over 40 live Christmas trees all decorated by local businesses and organizations. Santa and his live reindeer make several appearances, there is live music during the weekends, a nativity scene, St. Nick's Cafe and Wreaths for Wishes, which is a silent auction of over 30 donated wreaths. An admission charge is not required, we only ask for a donation for a local child that has been selected to make their wish come true through Eastern Iowa's Make a Wish Foundation. This is a wonderful, family friendly event that many return to year after year. Held at Festhalle Barn in the Amana Colonies.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) Polar Plunges in Coralville and Cedar Rapids. Individuals and teams sign up to plunge as Polar Bears or as Chickens (who do not plunge). Costumes are encouraged, and everyone has fun while raising money for SOIA athletes. SOIA athletes, eastern Iowa businesses, college students and other supporters are part of the plunges. If we are selected as a SYC recipient, former Iowa Hawkeye football player Tim Dwight would be featured in the PSA to promote the Coralville and Cedar Rapids plunges. Polar Plunges are one of the most popular fundraising events for Special Olympics Iowa. In past years, many people indicated they saw the PSA spot on KCRG and it encouraged them to participate in a plunge.
