View profiles of the inspiring volunteer work done by this year's 9 Who care in this half hour special.
Of these nine winners, one will travel to Washington, D.C. to represent Eastern Iowa in a national competition for one of five 2009 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Awards for Public Service.
Selected for outstanding volunteerism in 2008, the “9 Who Care Jefferson Award” winners are:
Loanna & Orville Bloethe, Victor – This “can do” couple provides cultural experiences and scholarships for students as well as tremendous support for the entire community of Victor.
Kathy Good, Cedar Rapids – Kathy’s passion and leadership are influencing resources, public policy and general awareness about the realities of Alzheimer’s disease.
Leo Greco, Cedar Rapids – A volunteer for numerous projects his whole life, Leo is being especially recognized for his generosity and service to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
Beth Hammell, Cedar Rapids – A survivor herself, Beth and two friends created “Gems of Hope” to bring hope and inspiration to cancer patients undergoing treatment.
