Cedar Rapids Man Accused Of Assaulting Children, Mother

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids man is accused of assaulting two children, including one who was only four days old.

According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, on July 18, 34-year-old Travis A. Robinson assaulted two boys, as well as their mother. The complaint alleges that Robinson hit a 4-day-old infant, swung him by the leg and threw him, knocking the newborn unconscious. Robinson also hit a 4-year-old boy, the documents state.

According to the complaint, Robinson also assaulted the mother of the children for 30 minutes. The complaint states Robinson used “personal weapons” and attempted to use a blunt object to assault the woman, causing her facial injuries. Robinson also prevented the woman from calling 911, according to the complaint.

Robinson has been charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, child endangerment, assault with intent to inflict serious injury and obstruction of emergency communication.
