Details Released On Pair Of Fayette County Rescues
WEST UNION, Iowa -- Fayette County authorities were involved in a pair of floodwater-related rescues Thursday.
Authorities first took a call at 3:50 p.m. Saturday that a driver was trapped in a vehicle that had been overcome by water in the 18000 block of Highway 93. When deputies arrived, they found Deangelo Bivens of Westgate had tried to drive through on the flooded road when his car stalled. Deputies, first responders and citizens were able to join together and rescue Bivens.
As authorities were rescuing Bivens, they found that a woman and two dogs were stranded in their home at 18338 150th Street. Water had surrounded the house and started coming in the front door, and a 500-gallon liquid propane tank was floating toward the house. Deputies and firefighters rescued the woman and her dogs from the home.
