Tourism is big business for the city of Cedar Rapids.
On any given night, around 1,500 visitors are staying in local hotels, according to the Cedar Rapids Visitors and Convention Bureau. Those visitors are not only paying for hotel rooms, they are dining out, gassing up cars, and shopping, which adds up to $730 million a year in tourist spending.
In celebration of all tourism does for the city, many local attractions are offering special tours and exhibits as part of National Tourism Week May 3-11.
Eleven Cedar Rapids attractions are taking park in Tourism Week, including the Brucemore historic site, The National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, Paramount Theater and many more. With each site you visit, your name is entered in a prize drawing through the CVB. Prizes include tickets to watch the Cedar Rapids Titans and an overnight stay at the Hilton Doubletree.
