Search Over: Man Charged with Child Endangerment in Custody
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The search for the man accused of injuring a Monona toddler earlier this year has officially come to an end.
The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office and the Dubuque Police Department confirm that 21-year-old Troy Laufenberg was arrested around 9:30 Saturday night in Dubuque. Laufenberg is accused of causing severe brain damage to 18-month-old Myah Larson earlier this summer.
Police found Larson unresponsive at her mother's home, at 103 1/2 E. Center Street in Monona, on July 15. Doctors told family members the injuries were consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.
"This arrest means justice for my daughter," said Myah's mother, Emily Voshell, in a conversation with TV-9's Katie Wiedemann.
On Tuesday, July 30, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said they were searching for Laufenberg, wanted on four charges: child endangerment, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Laufenberg is currently being held in the Dubuque County Jail.
