Crews investigate house fire on northwest side of Cedar Rapids

Fire crews in Cedar Rapids are investigating a house fire on the northwest side of the city.


It happened near the intersection of 1st Avenue and 11th Street Southwest, about 5 o'clock Sunday night.



It's part of the Cornell Summer Research Institute. The 10 week program is nearly done.


Independence is preparing for the Wapsipinicon river to crest. The National Weather Service predicts it will crest Monday morning at about 18.5 feet. Although, it appears to have crested at 15.5 feet Sunday night.
