The threat for severe weather has greatly diminished as of the latest forecast. Cloud cover has kept our atmosphere from becoming very unstable. Still, thunderstorms tonight may bring heavy downpours to eastern Iowa.

A rare astronomical event grabbed the nation's atttention Monday -- a total solar eclipse.

This year's Iowa State Fair set an attendance record, with more than 1.13 million people visiting the 11-day event in Des Moines.
